Canon EOS R1 in Development: Everything We Know
Canon recently announced they’re developing a new top-of-the-line mirrorless camera, the EOS R1. This camera is aimed at professional photographers who need the best possible performance for fast-paced action like sports and news events.
Here’s what we know so far:
Super Speedy: The R1 boasts a new image processing system that combines two processors, for super-fast data processing. This translates to quicker autofocus and better image quality.
Smarter Focus: The R1 uses deep learning technology to recognize, and track subjects with incredible accuracy. This means you can keep your focus locked on athletes or other fast-moving subjects, even when things get chaotic.
Action Priority: This clever feature automatically detects when a subject is about to take action, like shooting a basketball, and instantly adjusts the focus for those crucial moments.
Built for the Olympics: Canon is aiming to have the R1 ready for the Paris Olympics this summer. This suggests the camera will be incredibly durable and reliable for professional use.
Still a Mystery: We don’t yet know all the details about the R1, like the resolution of the sensor or how fast it will shoot photos. But Canon promises it will outperform their current fastest camera, the EOS R3.
Coming Soon: Canon is aiming for a 2024 release, but it might slip to early 2025. We expect to hear more details about the camera, including the price, closer to launch.
If you’re a professional photographer who needs the best possible performance for fast-paced action, the Canon EOS R1 is definitely a camera to keep your eye on.
