Understand The 180 Degree Rule in Film and How to Break it
The 180-degree rule is a cinematography guideline that states that two characters in a scene should maintain the same left/right relationship to one another.
When the camera passes over the invisible axis connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line and the shot becomes what is called a reverse angle. Reversing the angle is commonly thought to be disorienting and can distract the audience from the intent of the scene.
That said, there are ways you can break the 180 degree rule, and ways that you can bend the 180 degree rule.
Understanding TTL Through-the-Lens Flash Metering
Today’s DSLRs have light sensors that measure the ambient light, and the lens on the camera affects this. However, when you are using TTL flash metering to set your exposure, you need not worry. TTL flash metering doesn’t base the exposure reading on the ambient light, but rather on what the flash output light will be (based on a few factors). There are two basic ways to meter for flash. One way is to measure the flash light burst as it’s being projected.
10 Helpful Tips for Shooting Epic Drone Photos
Aerial photography is a different game than photographing from the ground.
