DJI Mic 3 Packs Pro Features into a Pocket-Sized System

DJI has just introduced the DJI Mic 3, the newest version of its wireless microphone system made for content creators, filmmakers, streamers, and interviewers. Smaller and lighter than the Mic 2, the Mic 3 manages to pack in more features while keeping things easy to use.

The Mic 3 transmitters are tiny—just 16 grams—but don’t let the size fool you. You can clip them to your shirt, stick them on with magnets, or rotate the clip to get the best angle. The charging case holds both transmitters and the receiver, along with windscreens and clips, so you don’t have loose parts rolling around in your bag. It’s a neat little all-in-one kit that’s ready when you are.

Smarter Sound, Less Headache

DJI added Adaptive Gain Control, which is a fancy way of saying the mic adjusts itself so your audio doesn’t blow out when someone yells or fade when they whisper. You get two modes:

Automatic (perfect for outdoors or unpredictable noise)

Dynamic (great indoors for interviews, podcasts, or streaming)

Additionally, there are three tone presets: Regular (clean and natural), Rich (deeper and warmer), and Bright (sharper and clearer). Basically, you can match the mic’s sound to your vibe without spending hours tweaking in post.

And if you’re shooting in noisy places? The Mic 3 features two levels of noise cancellation, along with a windscreen that actually works. Street interviews, windy vlogs, busy trade shows—this mic holds its own.

Backup Recording = Peace of Mind

For professionals who demand the highest quality and reliability, the DJI Mic 3 introduces several groundbreaking recording features. The most significant of these is the support for 32-bit float internal recording. This technology provides an enormous dynamic range, making it virtually impossible to ruin a recording with audio clipping.

It flawlessly captures everything from a quiet whisper to a loud shout, offering incredible flexibility and peace of mind in post-production. This is complemented by a lossless transmission mode that delivers uncompressed 48kHz 24-bit audio directly to the receiver. Furthermore, each transmitter functions as a backup recorder, saving audio internally to protect against wireless interference or device failure. To streamline multi-camera workflows, the system also incorporates high-precision Timecode support, ensuring footage can be synchronized instantly and accurately during editing.

Rock-Solid Wireless

A single receiver can connect with up to four transmitters simultaneously, making it ideal for group interviews or multi-person scenes. The system’s robust dual-band transmission automatically hops between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, providing a rock-solid connection over a range of up to 400 meters. For advanced post-production, a unique Quadraphonic mode allows for the independent output of four audio tracks when paired with select cameras or software, offering ultimate control during the mixing process.

Battery Life That Keeps Up

The DJI Mic 3 is built for endurance. The transmitters and receiver offer extended individual battery life, and the charging case provides a total of 28 hours of use. Intelligent power-saving features, such as automatically turning on and off with a connected camera, conserve energy and streamline the user experience.

The system’s wide compatibility is another key strength; the receiver features multiple ports to connect to any camera, computer, or smartphone. In a move toward ultimate simplicity, the transmitters can also connect directly to a smartphone or select DJI Osmo cameras via Bluetooth, eliminating the need for a receiver for quick, on-the-go recording.

The DJI Mic 3 is a complete audio solution. By combining a user-friendly, grab-and-go design with intelligent sound processing and professional-grade recording features like 32-bit float and timecode, DJI has created a system that is both accessible for beginners and powerful enough for the most demanding professionals. It stands as a testament to DJI’s commitment to innovation, providing creators with a reliable and versatile tool to capture the world in pristine audio.
